Thuathe Meteorite

Thuathe Meteorite:  Type:  H 4/5 ordinary chondrite.

A meteorite travelling east to west exploded over Lesotho, Africa on July 21, 2002.  The fall produced a strewn field extending 7.4 by 1.9 kilometers on the Thuathe plateau about 12 kilometers east of the capital city of Maseru.
Total estimated mass of recovered material is about 30 kilograms.
The stones are a beige to light-grey with abundant metal particles.  Chondrules are recognizable.  Shock stage is S2/3.

This is an irregularly cut specimen with about a 1x1 centimeter patch of fusion crust present.  Weight: 21.1 grams.
