D. (Desmoceras) latidorsatum

Desmoceras (Desmoceras) latidorsatum Michelin:  An excellent example of the split ammonites coming from Madagascar.  This  ammonite has been cut in half with the cut faces polished.  The camerae are clear and some are lined with calcite crystals.  Most of the original shell is in excellent condition on this specimen. This hefty specimen weighs about 3.5 ounces, each half measures about 2.4 inches by 2.15 inches, both halves are included.  I cleaned the umbilicus of this specimen to see the close, vertical walls expected of Desmoceras latidorsatum.  But, as Maurice Collignon would have said "malheureusement" the cut of the specimen was botched and an estimated 3 mm of the specimen is missing from the middle of the cut.  The kerf of the cut is usually about 1 mm so something went wrong in the shop in Madagascar.  Any width measurement is thus purely speculative, so we won't assume this is D.latidorsatum var inflataSpecimen has been repaired.
H=.46, W=.43, U=.22, W/H=.93. What is this?
