Aulacosphinctoides ambilobensis

Aulacosphinctoides ambilobensis Collignon, 1960A complete fossil Jurassic ammonite specimen from Sakaraha, near Tulear Madagascar.
This A. ambilobensis specimen is as collected and not repaired or prepared in any way and is 1.35" (3.4 cm) across weighing .5 ounces.
The specimen is an Aulacosphinctoides although more involute than the A. latedorsatus we have from Tulear.  A review of our database revealed that this specimen is an example of the more involute A. ambilobensis described by Collignon in 1960.  An excellent miniature display specimen from the locality, the last .75 inches was "squashed" in geologic time, a small split is visible on the very top of the specimen.
